Club Trophies
The W. Clayton Crawford Trophy
The W. Clayton Crawford Trophy was first presented in 1996 and is to be presented annually to the Club member's retriever that receives the most AKC Hunting Test master level qualifying scores. This trophy is in appreciation of Clayton's many contributions to the Hunting Tests and in recognition of Clayton's "once-in-a-lifetime" character. Clayton was a DBRC member for over 25 years and a charter member of the Master National Retriever Club.
The M. Alex Spear Memorial Trophy
The M. Alex Spear Memorial Trophy was established in 1997 and is presented annually by the Del Bay Retriever Club, Inc. in recognition of Alex's leadership, accomplishments and contributions to the sport of Field Trials. Alex was a founding member of Del Bay and remained a member until his death in 1997. Alex and his wonderful Chesapeake Bay Retrievers were an integral part of the Del Bay Retriever Club for 60 remarkable years. This perennial trophy is awarded to the Amateur Club member who has turned in the best cumulative results at Del Bay's Field Trials in the previous year. The recipient must be a member in good standing at the time of the placements. Furthermore, the trophy is awarded based upon a point system established by the 1997 Board of Directors.
Spring Field Trial Trophies
The DBRC Open Trophy
The Del Bay Retriever Club Open Trophy will be presented annually to the winner of the Open-All Age stake in the Spring Field Trial. It was presented by the late Mr. and Mrs. Fraser Horn.
The Alex Spear Memorial Trophy
The Alex Spear Memorial Trophy was donated by the Del Bay Retriever Club, in appreciation of Alex’s contribution to the sport. This perennial trophy will be presented to the owner of the winning dog in the Owner-Handler Amateur All-Age Stake at the Del Bay Retriever Club Spring Field Trial for the period of one year.
The Rebel Ridge "DYNA" Memorial Trophy
The Rebel Ridge “DYNA” Memorial Trophy is a perennial trophy, presented by Rebel Ridge Farms and Lyn Yelton in honor of FC-AFC Candlewood Rebel Ridge TNT. This trophy will be presented annually at the Del Bay Retriever Club Spring Licensed Trial held at Rebel Ridge Farms and vicinity. It will be presented to the highest placed bitch handled by its Amateur owner.
The A. Nelson Sills Trophy
The A. Nelson Sills Trophy is presented by the Del Bay Retriever Club in recognition of Nelson Sills’ dedication to the sport and to the Del Bay Retriever Club. This perennial trophy will be presented to the winner of the Qualifying Stake at the Del Bay Retriever Club Spring Field Trial.
The Craig A. Stonesifer DVM, Trophy
The Craig A. Stonesifer, DVM, Trophy is presented by the Del Bay Retriever Club in recognition of Craig Stonesifer’s devotion to and leadership of the Del Bay Retriever Club. This perennial trophy will be presented to the winner of the Derby Stake at the Del Bay Retriever Club Spring Field Trial.
Fall Field Trial Trophies
The William "Holdem" Holden Trophy
The William "Holdem" Holden Trophy is presented annually to the winner of the Open All-Age stake at the fall field trial. It was presented by Mr. Holden’s son, D. Wayne Holden, in honor of his father. Mr. Holden was a charter member of the Del Bay Retriever Club.
The Dr. W. L. Parrot Trophy
The Dr. W.L. Parrot Trophy is presented annually by the Del Bay Retriever Club to the owner of the winning dog in the Owner-Hander Amateur All-Age Stake. Mrs. Clifford V. Brokaw, Jr., retired this trophy by winning it three consecutive times with NFC/AFC Andy’s Partner Pete and represented it.
The Brandywine Star Memorial Trophy
The Brandywine Star Memorial Trophy is a perennial trophy; donated by the late Dr. W.T. Reardon, MD. It will be presented to the owner of the Best Bitch at the fall Del Bay Licensed Field Trial as determined by the Field Trial Committee.
The DBRC Qualifying Trophy
The Del Bay Retriever Club Qualifying Trophy was donated by the Stonesifer family. This perennial trophy will be awarded to the first place Qualifying dog for a period of one year.
The Jesse J. Mitchell Challenge Trophy
The Jesse J. Mitchell Challenge Trophy was donated by the Del Bay Retriever Club, Inc. in appreciation for his time and effort not only to our club, but also for his contribution to the future of our sport. This perennial trophy will be awarded to the first place Derby dog.
